INTERVIEW WITH ERIC HANSEN

Tell us about the making of the film?My new film Celebrity Boxing The 16th Minute is about 13 years in the making. I met Damon through a mutual acquaintance back in 2009, and from the first time I attended one of his events I thought that this would make a great film and/or television show. I thought about the Andy Warhol quote that everyone is famous for 15 minutes, and how Celebrity Boxing really was the 16th minute.

What do you love most about the film? What I love about this film is how it portrays all pf the preparations the celebrities go through to step into the ring. Being a former pop star or professional athlete doesn't necessarily equate to being effective in a boxing ring.

How will this film inspire others, and has it inspired you?The audience will find it compelling how much work and training and preparation goes into participating in a celebrity boxing event. I think what inspired me the most is seeing what challenges Damon faces to facilitate these events. There are a lot of moving parts that no one ever sees, and it is amazing how he is able to connect all the dots and make these events happen.

What is the biggest takeaway that you want viewers to have? I hope more than anything that viewers come away with appreciation of how participants immerse themselves in celebrity boxing once they decide to compete. To understand how entertaining the entire process is to prepare for these events, and how much crowds respond to their favorite celebrities fighting in the ring. I found the evolution from concept to Fight Night is extremely interesting, entertaining and in many cases very inspiring.

Do you have any future projects in the works? In the near future, Dark Tower Entertainment is focusing on the possibility of developing Celebrity Boxing for a television program, and revisiting the release my film Scott Weiland Man of Velvet and Stone - a documentary concert film which features the only pro shot footage of the final tour from Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots shortly before he died.

INTERVIEW WITH DAMON FELDMAN

How does it feel to have a documentary filmed about your role with Celebrity Boxing? It feels incredible! This is more about my career, although my biopic will be out shortly, but this movie is an incredible representation of hard work and the process of how I made it all happen.

What do you hope people will take away from it? To go after your dreams and keep your vision and determination. If you do that, you can make anything you want happen. Who has inspired you the most? My children. Seeing them and knowing that I have to make sure they're taken care of made me want to work harder and harder to achieve all this.

What was it like working on this project with Eric and the team? It was amazing working with Eric and his team. He's followed me for 13 years, so he has a lot of content. There will be more to come down the road, so he did an amazing job. Where do you see yourself and Celebrity Boxing in the next 10 years? I can see myself selling the company within 10 years, and possibly maintaining a management role to oversee all of it, as it's going to become the hottest and biggest sports entertainment niche.

Some people scoffed at the idea of Celebrity Boxing, but you turned it into a must see event. What do you attribute to its success and how would you describe the event to someone who hasn't attended yet? Basically it's been a dream to have a Pay-Per-View event and get to this level. It comes down to a vision, but also non-stop dedication, determination, and writing my goals down. If someone hasn't seen a celebrity boxing event they're going to see a spectacle! What is something most often misunderstood about you? Probably that people think I just want to be famous. I'm already known, it's not about fame or money, it's more about building a legacy for my children and showing people that your dream is real and you can make it happen. What advice do you have for someone who is in the process of following their dreams? You're going to hit a brick wall, you may hit several, but just understand that it is for a reason. You have to keep pushing, keep the vision, keep the determination and reach for your dream, because it really is right in front of you and in your hands. If you want it that bad, you can make it happen without a doubt.

Also save the date for the next Celebrity Boxing event to take place Saturday March 26th at Showboat Atlantic City presented by Bitcoin Rodney, featuring Ring Announcer Flavor Flav, Naughty by Nature's Treach, Boxing Legend Roy Jones Jr., Rodney Burton, Al B Sure, Mob Wives Renee Graziano, Sabrina Parr, Jenn Harley and more!
