A Suburban Oasis for Diners Opens on the Main Line

The Main Line has a new restaurant named after the Kinks’ hit single, “Lola.” Restauranteur Avram Hornik of FCM Hospitality just launched Lola’s Garden at Suburban Square in Ardmore, PA. The indoor/outdoor concept features a lush garden motif, a giraffe, and seating for 240 patrons (140 outdoors). Avram shared with me that he grew up in the area and the giraffe is a nod to the Banana Republic that was once in the same space. Avram is known for other Philly-area establishments including Morgan’s Pier, Juno and Harper’s Garden. This is his first foray into the Philly burbs.

The menu includes craft cocktails and mocktails with bitters and vermouth made in house. At the preview party I tried the Cucumber-Basil Butterfly mocktail which was as refreshing as it was pretty. The wine, beer and spirits are all Pennsylvania labels. The former chef of Russet Andrew Wood will uniquely pair local ingredients in small bites, salads, entrees, sandwiches and desserts with a rotating menu. The menu will include vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free selections. I tried the Burrata Cheese and Baby Beets which to my delight also included pistachios.

The outdoor area features a 2500 square foot four season trellis space as well as an outdoor bar. The restaurant is available for semi-private and private parties and events as well as a complete event buyout.

Opening hours will start with dinner service Wednesday to Sunday, from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Starting on Wednesday, April 28th, Lola's will open for lunch and dinner, and launch brunch service that weekend. Starting May 3rd, look for Lola's to be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and brunch, with hours after that date to be Monday to Friday, Noon to Midnight.
