Every year the Community Food Bank of New Jersey - Southern Branch hosts a Captains Table VIP Reception at the Progressive Insurance Atlantic City Boat Show, and benefits their member charity Let Us Eat, Please, Inc.
3 Facts you should know:
The #1in6 plates are to educate attendees that 1 in 6 children in our area regularly go hungry. This statistic used to be 1 in 5, however due to the efforts of organizations such as Let Us Eat Please and the CFBNJ who work hard to identify and connect with said students and their families.
The chefs in front of the boat are all volunteers who work the event (and whose restaurants donate the food.)
The mugs were made by students in Egg Harbor City and Galloway Schools to raise money for the cause. I love the “kids feeding kids” aspect of their projects. This year, they plan to make coasters.
