I've never had Indian food before, so I honestly didn't know what to expect. After visiting Jalsa Indian Kitchen in Somerdale, New Jersey, I can honestly say I can't wait to go back!
Jalsa brings the authentic taste of India to the Philadelphia tri-state area with a modern twist, featuring dishes inspired by regions all across India. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The owner even stopped by our table and explained that they make and blend their own signature spices fresh every week, giving every dish bold, authentic flavor.
What We Tried at Jalsa
🥩 Mango Lamb Curry (Signature)Tender lamb simmered in a rich, creamy mango curry sauce that perfectly balances sweet tropical flavor with warm Indian spices for a uniquely satisfying dish.
🥔 Aloo Gobi Matar (GF/VG)A comforting dish of cauliflower, potatoes, and green peas cooked with turmeric, herbs, and authentic Punjabi spices. As a first-time Indian food eater, this was one of my biggest surprises and something I'd definitely order again.

🥭 Order the Mango Lassi! It was creamy, refreshing, and paired perfectly with every bite. If it's your first time trying Indian food, this drink is a must.

🍰 Save room for the Dubai Kunafa Cake. This signature dessert features pistachio cream, crispy kataifi pastry, rich Dubai chocolate, malai milk, hazelnut praline, and cocoa nib sea salt. It was easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time and the perfect way to end the meal.
One thing that really stood out was the value. The prices were very reasonable for the quality, presentation, and portion sizes.
Planning a special event? Jalsa Indian Kitchen also features a private party hall, making it a fantastic venue for birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, corporate events, and celebrations.
