Rutgers Offers Online Garden Education Series Beginning February 9th

The Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, a cooperative in Atlantic County, is offering weekly online courses titled the "Garden Education Series 2022". Every Wednesday from 6:30p-8:30p there will be 15 live online courses with content experts, 5 pre-recorded webinars & weekly discussions on topics including:

  • botany

  • soils

  • entomology

  • composting

  • vegetable gardening

  • small fruit

  • tree fruit

  • woody plants

  • trees

  • plant pathology

  • pruning

  • turf

This horticultural education program is available both to home gardeners and to those interested in becoming Certified Rutgers Master Gardener Volunteers of Atlantic County. Participants may choose to take the Gardening Education Series for their own home horticulture use. Those interested in becoming Master Gardener Interns will take the Gardening Education Series and then be given additional training and volunteer hours service requirements to complete their internship training. Online classroom instruction will run February 9th – May 25th, Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm (2-hour lectures with question and answers session following). The program consists of 15 content expert lectures and 5 core prerecorded webinars, plus additional elective webinar content and class discussion sessions.
