LOOKS NICE DOESN’T IT????

c

NEED WE SAY MORE?!?!?!?!? Number 17 won on the 17th of June while #17, John Havlicek, was in the house!!! It’s been waaaay too long Celtics. Thanks for a great season!!!!! See you at the parade on Thursday!!!

Here’s what we got going on tonite.

The Paradise has Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine. Truly a fun show. I’ve seen these guys. If you like your 90’s & 00’s music sung “lounge style” then head on over to the ‘dise tonite. Doors open at 7. Tix are $35…a bit pricey but worth it if ya got it.

T.T. the Bear's Place

TT the Bears has Corin Ashley, The Golden Dogs and Sloan all for just $15. If my math is correct, that’s $5 bucks a band!!! So totally worth it.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

The MFA has been holding Concerts in the Courtyard as of late and have been very successful. Tonight they have Jose Gonzalez. The first show is sold out, so they added a second show happening at 10. Tickets are only $25. $20 if you sign up to be a card carrying member.

Toast Lounge in Somerville has the Rex Complex for a Wednesday residency.

Johnny D’s Uptown, also in Somerville has Jenee Halstead and The Patrons

I still can’t believe it. The CELTICS are WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! 22 years…don’t make us wait so long for the next one o.k.

Check back tomorrow for what’s happening around town here at thecitypulse.com

Kevin Garnett and Kobe ByrantFirst and foremost, the Celtics will win banner 17 tonight, the 17th of June!!!! It’s Game 6 of the NBA finals tonight at the Garden. Hope the Lakers enjoyed their flight to Boston for one game.

John Lester hits the mound for the Sox in Philly this evening. Since their not in Boston the game will start at 7:05. If they were here they would’ve started an hour earlier as they had done last week.

If music is what you seek:

The Middle East Upstairs has The Black and White Years,Parlour  Steps, Action Verbs and Anthems MA. Show starts at 9, is 18+ and only $8.

The Middle East downstairs has Rooney, Locksley and The Bridges. Unfortunately, it’s SOLD OUT: (  But, up the street…

T.T. the Bear's Place has Sincerely, The Management, Model Cars, The Venetia Fair and Supervolcano on stage.

The Heartland is at The Plough and Stars.

Looking for new music and movies?? Here’s this weeks new releases:

coverColdplay -Viva La Vida Could be the biggest release of their career? Its already sold over 300k in their homeland.

coverKaty Perry - One of the Boys Lots of buzz surrounding this internet star. She’s got Glenn Ballard, Desmond Child and Dave Stewart helping her out. All of them have sold millions of records and will probably do the same with this.

coverDennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue/Bambu The only surfer in the Beach Boys. Brother Dennis was the drummer and this was his only solo release. Long out of print, it also contains unfinished music from a follow up solo album named after rolling paper makes up this double disc.

coverDavid Bowie - Live in Santa Monica ‘72 Perhaps the best documented show of capturing The Spiders from Mars at their peak. Better than the soundtrack release of the same tour. It is also considered Bowie’s best live release…period!

coverChicago - Stone of Sisyphys Of course they numbered it. It’s number XXXII…”does anybody really care???”

coverJudas Priest - Nostradamus I’ll bet the sooth sayer never predicted a double cd concept metal release from a band waaaay past its prime.

coverThe Offspring - Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace It’s the 90’s hitmakers first album in 5 years. The world has changed. Have they??

coverSebadoh - Bubble and Scrape Local band re-releases its third album. The last one to feature founding member Eric Gaffney.

coverMick Hucknell - Tribute to Bobby Simply Red’s frontman pays tribute to one of his favorite singers, Bobby “Blue” Bland. Mr Bland was either the bluesiest soul singer or the only blues singer with soul of the sixties and early seventies. You be the judge as Mick tries to channel him.

coverKathy Griffin - For Your Consideration The self proclaimed D-lister releases her first comedy album…what you expected her to sing??

DVD’s

Jericho - The Complete Series- Of course it’s the complete series, it was only on for 2 seasons on CBS.

Californication - Season 1 - One of my favorite cable shows. It can be seen on Showtime starring David Duchovny. It’s very well written.

The Suite Life Of Zack and Cody - Lip Synchin’ in the rain - If you have kids and they watch the Disney Channel. They know who these two are. Oh yeah, it takes place in Boston at the fictional “Tipton Hotel.” They use the facade of the Copley Plaza Hotel for exterior shots. (more…)

Another week is upon us…June 16, 2008 June 16, 2008

Hope you had a great weekend!!! The Celtics should’ve won last nite but the ref’s want them to win here. Game 6 is tomorrow nite at the Garden. Which by the way will have a new name as soon as the Finals are over. Monday’s are usually a day of rest for some but if you really have to go out. Here are some choices:

plough_logo_200w

The Plough and Stars on Mass. Ave in Cambridge has Punk DJ Night. That sounds cool.

The Middle East Upstairs has the Gentleman’s Auction, Seymore Saves the World, Hospital Bombers & Daniel Ouelette. The cover is only $8.

Around the corner at TT the Bears it’s their acoustic night:

Ian Schwartz, Heather Mumford and Brad Herrick perform tonight. It’s a great bargain at $3.

If your brain is full of useless information. It’s trivia and free pizza night at Johnny D’s in Somerville.

Inter-league play continues as the Red Sox travel to Philly tonite. Bartolo Colon will be on the mound for the Sox.

Tomorrow is new release day for music and movies and much more. Make sure you check back tomorrow to see what’s going on around town right here at thecitypulse.com

Happy Father’s Day!!!!! To all you dad’s out there. If you’re not a dad, happy Sunday. Maybe you’ll go to brunch today and after that how about a walk in the park…Fenway Park that is.

From 11a - 2p you can walk around the “warning track” of Fenway, poke your head in the Green Monster and have your picture shown on the screen in centerfield as well as in the dugouts and the WORLD SERIES Trophies. How cool is that???? What baseball fan wouldn’t enjoy that. The Sox are still in Cincinnati for inter league play. Josh Beckett will be on the mound for Boston.

Then later on tonite down at the Comcast Center in Mansfield we will be treated by a visit from a group that hails from “The Great White North” or Canada to the rest of us:

RUSH!!! The ultimate Power Trio. Tix are still availabe and are pricey. $110 for the shed seats all the way down to an affordable $29 to sit on the lawn. Debating whether to go??? Here’s their set list from last night from Philly:

Video Intro (features all 3 band members)
Limelight
Digital Man
Ghost of a Chance
Mission
Freewill
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl (with McKenzie Brothers intro)
Red Barchetta

What a surprise?!?!? There’s a drum solo during the show. More importantly…Game 5 of the NBA Finals is tonite at nine on ABC. The Celtics could wrap up the series with a win. If they do, there will be a lot of tired kids in school on Monday. It’s been 22 looooong years since the last C’s championhsip. The Sox have won both of their recent World Series on the road as have the Patriots. C’mon Celts keep the tradition going.

Another week ends and another will begin. Just keep coming back to check out what’s going on around you right here on thecitypulse.com
